Enjoyed this! Def need to do a brainstorming session. & thanks for the biosite call out. I would love to also hear from someone that does great at social but doesn’t do it through comedy. I feel like most brands are like or aspiring to be like Duolingo or The Cut now - trying to be quirky etc., which is great but *are* there great brands that are good at social without necessarily leaning on comedy? I think that would be interesting to see. Thank you x
Totally! I think all social, at this point, needs to be entertaining. But that doesn't necessarily mean they need to be funny. Will think on this for a future newsletter!
This was such a good read with such good advice! I need to take out a piece of paper and scribble down more on my brand's voice (for my small biz party game company). Thinking out loud, it's people who loved drinking games in college, but now are in their late 20s/30s and don't want to take shots. They are feeling isolated from their friends and family and want deeper connections. They were on tumblr as a teen (or myspace) and now scroll Instagram (and sometimes TikTok, but then they feel old). They go to bachelorettes and baby showers but still feel like they're trying to figure out what they're doing in this world, even when it's their own event. They watch Love is Blind and think everyone on that show is a little crazy but secretly wonder how they would do.
Okay, that's all I can think of for now. P.S. I am in the top 1% of boygenius Spotify listeners, and I think I'm doing ok? hahaha
You had me at What Is Your Brand's Sun, Moon, and Rising...
