Over-influencing is so real - reminds me of a tiktok user that turned down a Bottega Veneta jodie bag in their famous green colorway because she was sick of seeing it everywhere, only to find out it's an incredibly rare color to paying customers, and was just gifted to every influencer on the planet
I love how ranged and concise your newsletters are. I’ve been reading for a while and I appreciate how it sparks ideas in mind for marketing. Would love to hear more.
The Reformation story reminds me of the Kumail Nanjiani/Tide commercials I've been seeing a lot in which he's edited into old viral videos. It seems like this method of creator content could go bad as they recycle more and more. People absolutely will catch on! But maybe more people think it's funny than sneaky, and it won't be as controversial as I think lol
Love the social media tips and fun brand posts! It's interesting to see what's going viral on sides of the internet I'm not following. I'm a fan of the format!
Loved the format this week, Rachel! Tons of really useful info and still a quick read, 10/10.
I also really loved last week’s interview with Kelly Gordon. Saved both of these issues and I know I’ll refer back to both—really appreciate all the value you provide!
I want to sympathize on your Roadway Moving email ghosting, but I'm still waiting on the digital coffee arrangement from ya for like... 4 months now! The J Crew idea and IG Story color hack are both excellent.
I have about 11K followers on by bookstagram account, and when I moved out of NYC recently, I *did* know that I should ask moving companies for sponcon discounts. I actually had an offer from roadway but I think at what I’m assuming was my “tier” (small-time influencer), the discount wasn’t enough to make roadway cheaper than the others. I ended up going with Piece of Cake, which also has a very influencer-forward marketing strategy!

So good
Finally my struggle with story backgrounds is over, I literally edited every single one since reading about it here! :D
