Disney took the darkness out of many European myths and simply reproposed them with extra saccharin. An exception would be The Wizard of Oz. The greatest story ever drawn was, of course, Asterix and Cleopatra with the only latest animated film iteration by Alain Chabat (2025) regarded as good as the atmosphere of comic books.
